One-Day Float Trips

What Are Our Suggested One-Day Float Trips?

Our team at Buffalo River Outfitters has specifically designed a page to answer your questions about float trips that are good for a day on the river! We know that on your free day you want to relax in the outdoors. Whether floating down the river, hiking the bluffs, or hooking a big one, we can set you up. The team here at Buffalo River Outfitters has listed which areas we recommend for our one-day trips. If you think a one day trip just is not long enough, check out our multi-day float trip page for our recommendations!

Baker Ford to Gilbert

This section between Baker Ford and Gilbert features scenic views and historical structures, landscapes and artifacts that you won’t want to miss.

Approximately a mile into your trip, you will happen upon Arnold Bend Island. Be sure to stay on the right-hand side of the river here, as the left-hand side has several strainers that make getting through by boat nearly impossible. There is a beautiful, towering limestone bluff that sits behind the island so pull over to the side and enjoy the scenery.

Four miles into your trip, there is a historical hike that starts at Tyler Bend Visitor Center. It is roughly a mile one-way and leads you to an overlook where you get a bird’s eye view of the Buffalo National River.  While you are here, check out the Tyler Bend Visitor Center and learn about the history of the Buffalo National River and the Collier Homestead which you will also see during your hiking excursion.

Roughly one and half miles downstream from Tyler Bend, you will float into Grinder’s Ferry. Grinder’s Ferry has one of the most popular swimming holes on the Buffalo River. You can also hike up to the top of the bluff and enjoy the view.
